Oh yeah, absolutely, I always ask what people want from me as a beta reader because if I don't...things get messy. Though the best compliment I ever got from someone was a friend who published a story un-betaed, because she said that if sent it to me, she knew I'd make it so much better, but that she just needed to send it into the world. And that was extremely legit!
