I find season one fantastic, but much more on the second watch -- it does a great job setting things up that will be meaningful in ways the initial viewer doesn't expect. But I also think it's clunky and uneven? But like, that's kind of why I love it -- it can be both fantastic and not very good, and I love sitting with that dichotomy.

And yeah, I caught some of the end of the 90s fandom (in the early aughts) -- there were some really great sites and listservs. But I was in my lurker days then, so it's not as formative for me as it could have been.
